Artist Statement

I have always had a positive connection with art that moves.

The best thing about kinetic sculpture is that it encourages the viewer to be present in the moment, sharing time and space. When a kinetic piece of art catches my eye, my mind slows down and I become joyful and relaxed. The emotion of surprise and wonder reminds me of being a child. I feel like I am seeing and discovering something new in the world for the first time. I long for this “childlike” joyful feeling in my fast-paced daily life.

The Golden Ratio is a huge part of our world and has been used in art and architecture for over 2000 years. Incorporating this phenomenon in my work, in itself, is another way to create an element of surprise and discovery. Many people are not even aware of its existence and when I tell people about Phi, for those who are unaware of the ratio, I can tell it opens their eyes to a whole new world right away.

Art that mimics movement in nature seems to be a product of some kind of magic. The impossible becomes possible and the viewer is left with a sense of amazement and awe. With this in mind, it seems that magic can be proven through scientific processes in the world of physics.

My work revolves around my fascination with Phi. My love for this ratio and my constant research has developed into a body of work that focuses on its existence in the world around us.

Ginelle is active in her local arts community where she lives in Santa Rosa California and has been a member of Americans for the Arts Member since 2007. It is important that her work reflect her enthusiasm for science as well as connects the viewer to their inner child by involving kinetic spinning features.

Her residency at Art Studio Fuji in Florence, Italy with Master Jeweler, Kenneth Peter Scott, from New Zealand grounded her jeweler skills, while her travels around the world, inspired her large scale work. The great works of art and architecture in not only Florence, Rome, and Palermo, Italy, but also Nice and Paris France, Vienna, Austria, Amsterdam, Holland, Prague, Czech Republic, Chamonix, Switzerland, Athens and Santorini, Greece, London and Hereford, United Kingdom, and Giza, Cairo, and Luxor, Egypt have undoubtedly influenced each piece completed and each piece she will ever make.
